Yes you read that right, someone designed a mod to allow 16 player Co-op on Left 4 Dead 2 for the PC.
As much as N4G highlights the chaos of having a crazy match like this, it looks pretty damn fun to me. There's so much going on that if you aren't pro then you would probably be beaten to every zombie that could fit in that game. I'm already laughing at how many people have a chainsaw in that match, and how "efficient" it would be if everyone stood in a group with chainsaws and cleaned out the rooms. Ha!
Here's the server if any L4D 2 PC owners are interested:

Last 2 Left 4 Dead 2 campaigns revealed

This feels like i'll be role-playing the Dawn of the Dead remake when they are in the mall (but on overtime), AWWWWESOME!

Not much to say on this, sounds like the Swamp Fever level a little. Oh and since L4D is an Xbox console exclusive (yeah yeah it's on PC)franchise at the moment, why play Heavy Rain on PS3 when you can go HARDCORE and play HARD RAIN xD on Xbox.

Left 4 Dead 2 Gametype announced

On Planet Xbox 360, Valve announced a new gametype in Left 4 Dead 2 titled Scavenge:
Scavenge mode challenges players to compete in round-based games of up to 8 players (Survivors vs. Infected). The Survivors must battle both the Infected and the clock as they collect gas cans to refuel a generator located in each map. Every can the Survivors pour into the generator scores their team a point and adds time to the clock.
So it's basically survival with a continuous attempt to fuel a generator in order to put more time on the clock, okay not a bad idea. I'll have to see how it plays, but if there is a timer, what happens when that runs out? Does the timer represent a moment of respite for players, so that when the timer runs out horde's start coming?
That would make sense, the hordes are so bad you HAVE to keep filling the generator so all you have to face is the enemy team of special infected. Thing is, that's probably a bad guess being I can't see the game type letting you avoid hordes just by adding to the clock. So what happens when the timer runs out? The round's over? Also doubt that, because it's kinda lame to see the round end when the timer runs out. Does the timer replace simply dying like in survival, letting you respawn to help your friends. I also doubt that because it would be redundant to respawn in a zombie survival game. But what significance does the clock running out have that overshadows the struggle to stay alive against the infected?
Edit: All questions answered in this video

More Left 4 Dead 2 content news

Joystiq's overview of Dark Carnival Gameplay
Left 4 Dead 2 has been debated for being released too early, most of us at Geeksquisite think quite the opposite.
So with Jostiq's hands on experience of the Dark Carnival level I gleaned a few nice things to look forward to in Left 4 Dead 2 within their article.
First, we were introduced -- rather suddenly -- to a brand new special type of Infected, the Jockey. The Jockey is a small hunchbacked creature pulled straight out of Frankenstein's laboratory, complete with a crazy little laugh. True to his name, once the Jockey gets close enough, he will jump on a survivor's back and proceed to ride him.
This reminds me of the feature in the Activision Spiderman game, based on the movie, where you could jump and pound on the head of a criminal as he runs around the room. I'm sure the Jockey's actions will be similar, and be an annoying Pain in the Ass to kill as well as something entertaining to watch your fellow players go through.
We also are told there is a katana which seems an unusual and unfair advantage to survivors. But Joystiq maintains it doesn't:
Of course, running around with a melee weapon does limit your ability to help teammates escape from the Horde and special Infected, so you might want to keep a decent long range weapon as a backup
Zombies aren't exactly going to care if their arms are cut off.
A few other details: There's a new magnum pistol that downs enemies in a single shot (and blows holes clean through them). There is a grenade launcher available too, though we never actually saw it.
Sweet, I love the molotovs and pipe bombs, but we need some tools like the grenade launcher to make the body parts fly off the infected. Remember kids, hurting people is wrong but zombies make a nice tossed salad of limbs. HAZZAH!
I cannot wait for this game.

Left 4 Dead gets lobby browser
This list includes official and add-on campaigns, including add-on campaigns you have not yet installed, making it a great way to discover them. You can filter by difficulty, official and/or add-on campaigns and by lobbies and/or games in progress.
Note: I believe this is for PC only, I wish it wasn't because I get tired of playing the same maps, and no one wants to play on the highest difficulty.
Not much else to say here but at least angry fans of Left 4 Dead dreading the second game will get more use and less repetition out of the first game should they choose not to indulge on the sequel.

New Left 4 Dead update next week for PC
Even though I will be paying for Left 4 Dead 2, THIS is a nice little freebie for the first game to interest me.
Essentially you get to create your own campaign maps, I wonder how far you can customize. Well you can add your own as I said before, cool, but kotaku seems to imply other people's creations will appear as selections? i'm not sure.
I didn't really see much on what you can control, adding more swarms of zombies and deciding how the players will go through the level would be cool. Especially if I could design several ways to get through one map.
But this is a great leap forward, especially if they add all these changes to the new game. HERES AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT YOU CAN DO
People hating the creation of Left 4 Dead 2 will be appeased I bet, i'm also not a good map creator but seeing other people's creations and having fun with them will be priceless. Too bad I didn't get the PC version :(

Left 4 Dead 2 Hopes
I've been excited for Left 4 Dead 2, there I said it angry L4D fans :)
I only bought Left 4 Dead a month ago, and I might sell my first one after getting the second one. And I don't care, Left 4 Dead is just simply that good.
Now while I enjoy Left 4 Dead immensely, i'm focusing on the future of the sequel. From trailers, extended demos and the like, it looks good. New weapons, maps, zombie types, and characters. All good stuff, but there are a few things i'm hoping will or will not happen.
For one thing the blood looked a lot more like ketchup, not a big deal but that will seem a bit cheezy. Maybe they'll fix that.
A more forward hope is that they lower the respawn time when your on the zombie team, 30 seconds IS too long. trim it down to 20 seconds, and it will save a lot of frustration for gamers.
Lastly, It'd be kinda cool to have the four survivors fight zombies while DRIVING through town. You can shoot, whack as you pass and in the driver's case, ram them.
Those are my hopes, can't wait to see what else the game will have.
