Perfect Dark coming to XBLA

It's not just a retro listing

Well here is another XBLA Arcade game coming this Winter, Perfect Dark, and from the looks of the pictures it gets a graphical facelift from the N64 version. And when I read that I was thinking wow cool another Turtle in Time Reshelled story, especially considering it will have co op multiplayer. Thats about all Turtles in Time Reshelled had too.

Well there is something to make fans of Perfect Dark happy enough to buy it at the likely 800-1200 Microsoft points it will be, the Face Mapping Technology removed at the last minute before its original release will be put into the game. That should get some of us interested.

Turtles In Time Reshelled Demo Impressions

As a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan, I was mildly excited to see the Turtles in Time game getting..er..reshelled as an Xbox Live Arcade game with multiplayer gameplay, updated graphics and such.

Turtles In Time Reshelled was recently reduced in price from 15 dollars to 10, or 800 microsoft points. This really helped get my interest in the game, because I was not about to spend 15 bucks for a remake of a Super Nintendo game. And since I collect classic gaming consoles I debated whether it was a BETTER idea to get the original game on the Super Nintendo as opposed to this one. Well, sadly its a good thing I demo played the game before being stupid enough to buy it, because this game is not even worth 800 points. 500 points, sure, but 300 more points and I can play it with friends online, no definitely not worth it.

Turtles In Time Reshelled is not very engaging as a game, the controls in regard to the 360 controller are simple button mashing with no variety. If your like me and want to collect consoles such as Super Nintendo, wait for that time and just buy the game then. This treatment by Ubisoft is all graphics and nothing else, this is the most blatant repackaging that offers nothing worth it. Even with multiplayer, its probably going to be no fun because I own Castle Crashers and that game has more variety and satisfaction than this game.

Don't waste your money on this game unless you don't plan on owning a Super Nintendo and know you will have willing friends ready to play multiplayer. And even then, be prepared for a boring experience.

XBLA summer pack, get back virtual money

Buy $70 worth and get $10 back

Well as the article suggests, Microsoft is trying to sweeten the deal by having you buy all the summer Xbox Live Arcade releases totaling 70 bucks. Then they will give you back 10 dollars worth of Microsoft points, anyone who goes for this deal is getting ripped off.

Think about it, August is the month we spend our money on last minute stuff for school. $70 goes a long way there and for them to say we'll give you $10 bucks back makes no economical sense in terms of value. I have a hard time believing a good amount of people would want all those games in the pack, so basically if you spend early you get a game you didn't really care about.

If Microsoft can haggle like this, how about for one week they take all those summer hits and drop them all to 800 points. That's probably millions of dollars in PROFIT they will make in that week, but assuring us we'll get a game we likely don't want for free doesn't make me want to go for this deal.

Shadow Complex Release Date

Proof

Hooray it turns out there was a release date I didn't know about for Shadow Complex, the game will release on August 19th!

Perfect timing i'd think, people wait till the last minute to grab their school stuff and in my case college stuff. What better way to salute the end of summer than by playing one of the most anticipated games of E3. Shadow Complex is also the first of E3's promises for new gaming entertainment that hasn't gone the route of many games pushed to 2010.

Sad thing is, people have been hyping how the game CAN be beaten in under two hours. Why would you want a single player game to be over in just two hours? Why do people have to ruin the game by hinting at shortcuts that make us feel more dumb for taking longer to finish the game. I regretted blowing through Ghostbusters as fast as I did, thankfully still having professional difficulty to replay it in.

Enjoy this game, because it is sure to be a blast.

Battlefield 1943 Demo Impressions

In the Xbox Live Arcade store, 1200 points is expensive, and the game better be really good to earn that price. There is a very big judgement difference between a game worth 800 points and one worth 1200, Battlefield 1943 is a heavily online multiplayer oriented game. So how does it shape up?

Battlefield is actually pretty damn decent, so decent that the only reason it is not on my hard drive is because I am not fiscally sound at the moment. It is that good, especially considering it turns something as simple as a 3 island area into a fun and chaotic warfare ground.

With the ability to choose what type of soldier you want to be, there are different weapons given to you with different strengths. Your character can drive turret mounted vehicles around the island, and when neither plane, boat or bridge exists you can simply swim across to another island. The planes are especially regarded as fun by most players, so fun that I could not ever get in one in the 30 minute demo I had. Although the plane seems cheap because it has nuclear bombing capability that pretty much covers half the island.

However the game definitely is not your run of the mill shooter either, you cannot just shoot and run. It has a much slower killing rate than other games, and I unlike some actually appreciate the amount of attention you DO need with your health being that resilient. If there was any trouble I had, its the difficulty to keep up with friends if you lose them. The mapping and lack of a good hud to indicate friendlies caught me off-guard at times.
