Friday the 13th Sequel

I didn't see the remake of Friday the 13th, but then again the original movie didn't appeal to me. But of course when I heard about the remake I merely dismissed it because remakes haven't fared too well, and I couldn't see the remake even coming close to the original.

Marcus Nispel's past movies including the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake were lame, and he didn't want to do the remake of Friday the 13th, they had to almost beg him. So of course the movie had potential to fall short because the director's heart was not in it, and of course it was going to make money because it was a low budget production.

So, not surprisingly, IGN reports a remake coming on August 13th 2010.

I wish this had been a one time thing, I'm curious if Nispel directs the sequel because I doubt he wants to. Once again, begging someone to direct isn't good for vision.

Nightmare on Elm Street 2010 Trailer

I've been pretty hit or miss with Michael Bay's horror remakes. I really enjoyed the first Texas Chainsaw Massacre they did with Jessica Biel but the sequel was unwatchable. Then there was Friday the 13th last year and I just couldn't really get behind it and found it to be a waste of time. Now we finally get a trailer for Nightmare on Elm Street and I think it looks pretty dam good. The casting is just inspired having Jackey Earl Haley (Rorscach) take over Rober Englunds shoes whose been playign Freddy Krueger for the last 20 years. While it's a bit weird to see someone else play the iconic role this looks really promising.The movie is coming to a theater near you April.30,2010 enjoy!

Went to see Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen...

...no this is not a review, Tom already did one.

But I got so annoyed, because there were parents bringing kids to this movie. Seven to Ten year old kids! I mean its PG-13, and it has a really good amount of sexual humor. Even as blatant as a girl riding sam, even though there wasn't any riding.

How idiotic do the parents have to be, to take their adolescent children to see this movie with the rating specifically showing it has sexual content and anyone under 13 shouldn't see it. Yeah I can understand if a kid gets to do it in his own home even though he isn't supposed to, but the parents taking them to the theatre knowing kids shouldn't see this movie in theatres?!

I'm not alone on this issue, there has been stories of children being dragged into R rated movies, even babies, and having them cry and annoy the others to the point of having a shooting occur by a frustrated movie goer.

I don't approve of such a thing, but in the theatre I was in, some dumb kid was telling his parents play by play what was going to happen on screen. He must've read the wikipedia version of the plot before seeing the movie or some other site, because he basically predicted the whole movie. I had the urge to tell him to shut up, but I didn't because I was locked onto watching the transformers. He only did it a few times anyway, but this is the point i'm trying to make.

For the mature audiences, we shouldn't have to deal with KIDS being brought into movies they shouldn't even be printed a ticket for, and cringe when something inappropriate has to be seen.

It's about as bad as watching a sex scene in a movie with your parents, it's kind of uncomfortable.

Oh and btw the movie was good, the negativity over the twins is overhyped, the movie only suffers from jumping all over the place plot wise, but its not as good as the first.

But dang that kid was annoying.

What is with the flaming around Michael Bay?

Recently on IGN I found THIS article with Shia defending Michael Bay's style of filmmaking. 

Seriously, I'm getting tired of this. Michael Bay is a filmmaker, you take the plunge to specifically see his movies, or more recently you are a Transformer fan who wants to see a live action movie sequel. Michael Bay is in no way, shape or form the best director out there. 

But his success, his HUGE success with the first Transformers movie has got movie purists in a twist of hate towards him. Alot of the time these fans talk about vision, and the fact that Michael Bay likes to blow stuff up and have hot women. Oh, so we're cave men then?  *sigh* I can understand the hatred towards Friedburg and Seltzer's terrible movie parodies. I can even tolerate criticism of people like Uwe Boll who is an idiot for not taking criticism.

Michael Bay is none of these, his vision is not subdued in fear of his critics and he doesn't pour over his negative critics to discredit them. Transformers just worked for him because it was originally for kids and was adapted for all levels of people while staying true to the original series. Michael Bay is good in my book because he's not trying to be something he's not, under the executive producing guidance of Steven Speilberg and his growing record of movies, things changed for Bay. 

Blowing stuff up and his taste for action melds well for Transformers, Michael Bay hasn't made enough movies to be a visionary on the scale of names like James Cameron, or Speilberg. But he made a very enjoyable Transformers movie that wasn't all jokes, it glorified the transformers. The upcoming sequel is supposedly more darker with Michael Bay signatures, and you could be seeing worse movies than his. Trust me.

No, Michael Bay isn't one of my favorite directors by any stretch. He just happens to do Transformer's adaption well.
