Geeksquisite Question of the Day #8: 7/17/09

This question came to me when me and an friend were thinking about what todays question should be while playing some Battlefield 1943.

Question #8: What's your favorite gaming genre? (i.e. shooter, Real-Time strategy, puzzle, etc...) and Why?

  1. Well, a good FPS is hard to beat, because there's something satisfying about pulling a trigger and splattering your opponents', be they Aliens, Enemy Soldiers, or your own team mates, virtual brains all over a wall.
RTS' are great because they require thought, and are also ultimately satisfying, especially when you crush your enemies under wave after wave of Death-bots, Super Soldiers or whatever.
RPGs (usually) have excellent storylines, which I tend to enjoy a lot.

So, really, I couldn't possibly tell you my favourite genre.

  2. i'd have to say Real Time Strategy, because having to think in a video game is good for my brain!

  3. I have to say my favorite genre is FPS. I usually need a nice break though after a few months of playing them. I usually play and RPG or a adventure game when not playing a shooter.

  4. I'd have to say 2D platformers. Unlike 3D game that are usually filled with bugs, 2D games usually never have any bugs, which leaves a lot more room for cool characters and settings. Also, lots of 2D Platformers usually have a nice amount of challenge to them, and I have a lot of skill for those type of games.

A close second would be RPG. I'm a sucker for a game with a good storyline.
