Geeksquisite Question of the Day #27: 8/5/09

This question came to me when thinking about music rhythm games. I know we had games like Frequency and Amplitude but I'm talking more about when they went mainstream. We had Guitar Hero and then Rock Band and now we seem to have a new one every few months.

Question #27: Do you feel that the music rhythm genre has become too oversaturated?

  1. Yes, in fact, Beatles Rock Band isn't on my list because the hype is gone for me.

  2. I think there's not much room for new bundles in the market... or even any new full-fledged games.

Short little side-games like Beatles: Rockband can still be done, and to great success... but stuff like a Rock Band 3, I don't think would go over too well.

I'd rather just see an update to Rock Band 2 for any features they are willing to add. Even if it costs, like... $5 on the marketplace, I think more people would go for that instead of an entirely new game.

I don't see why Harmonix couldn't do something like this... People are still buying tons of DLC, so it's not like they need an entirely new game to push those songs out to people.
